Well, it's been about six weeks since Kendalyn arrived and we are finally settling into a routine. Rick has been awesome at helping me. He takes care of the kids at night, bathing Amelie and getting her ready for bed before I tuck her in. And he's on baby duty while I'm asleep because he doesn't go to bed until about 3 am. He also has midnight 'tee-tee' runs if Amelie wakes up to go potty. Then he gets up with her in the morning and they go downstairs to watch their favorite cartoon while Kendalyn and I get to sleep. Yep, he's awesome. Mom and Dad have also been great in doing whatever I needed. They actually took Amelie home with them for the first week Kendalyn was here. It was bittersweet. After chasing Amelie around all the time, taking care of a tiny little baby was a breeze! But, I missed Amelie so much, I cried. Although, while Amelie was at her Nana and PawPaw's house, she and PawPaw became best friends! It was so cute. She loves him so much.
Amelie also LOVES her baby sister. She kisses her nonstop! And when Kendalyn cries, Amelie runs over to her and pats her and says "Ok, Ok." She's Mommy's big helper. She helps me burp the baby and feed her when I give her a bottle and she's great at picking things up for me when I have my hands full with Kendalyn. Amelie only takes one nap a day now so when she's up, she's a busy bee. She's been approaching the 'terrible twos' for some time now but yesterday she really let me have it. She accidentally spilled some milk from her cup and I said "Ut-ho. Step away so I can clean it." So she put her foot in it. Annoyed, I said "No, no. Step back so I can clean it," as I was putting Kendalyn down. So she laid down in the puddle of milk and rolled all over it. Um, yeah. I think she's bored because I haven't been able to spend as much one on one time with her lately. It will all work out though. A year from now she and Kendalyn will be playing together and I can't wait! I have started letting Amelie cook with me - one of the top three things I love about being a mom. (The other two things might be flash cards and hair bows. lol)
Meanwhile, Kendalyn is a dream. She's so sweet. She hardly ever cries. Instead, she grunts... a lot. She's starting to recognize my face. Yesterday we made eye contact and she gave me the biggest smile! So sweet! Oh, how I wish I could hold her all day. She will sleep all day on your shoulder. She loves to cuddle. And have I mentioned how beautiful she is? Yeah, she's pretty gorgeous!
