Amelie's First Illness

My precious baby girl has been sick lately. It's her first illness and I hate it! Of course, it started on Friday night so I couldn't whisk her to the doctor but I did call the weekend on-call nurse who gave me some good advise. Then off to the pediatrician we went on Monday, but by then she was already doing much much better. As it turns out, she has/had a virus that is apparently going around. She was coughing like mad for a while and had a fever all weekend that wouldn't break but that's partially my fault because I didn't know how much Tylenol to give her. (The label says ask your doctor if under 2 years of age) I gave her a minimal amount and it wasn't very effective at minimizing her fever. At one point it was 103, the poor baby :( Dr. Nana told us to bathe her with a cold rag, which she hated. We also gave her Mucinex and Vicks Baby Rub, cold water, pedialite... we tried it all.

I thought she was all better but she had quite a coughing spell this morning. She seems to be fine now. She's sleeping more than usual and she will not put anything in her mouth! She's so scared it might be medicine! So, we are back to square one with the spoon feeding but hopefully that will get back to usual soon. It really sucks to hear your precious l'il gem coughing, crying, and moaning and there is nothing you can do to fix her :( Ug! Sometimes this parenting thing is cruel!
