Last night was Amelie's first night to sleep in her nursery! She usually sleeps in our room. At first she was in the cradle made by PawPaw Price (Gamaw's step father and Amelie's great great grandfather). There is a plaque dedicated to him on the cradle as well as all of the children who have slept in it so it's a very special family heirloom. Soon we will add Amelie's plaque. The problem with the cradle is that Amelie had trouble falling asleep on her back, even on an elevated back/head pillow that is supposed to help her breathing. So, Ashley gave me her old baby swing, which she falls asleep in right away. Rick calls it the magic swing.
Last night I fed her at around 10pm and then Rick and I bathed her, clothed her, and laid her in her nursery crib (face up) to watch the mobile spin around, her favorite pastime right now. I hopped into the tub while Rick kept an eye on her through the baby-cam. When I got out of the tub, she was asleep. She and I share her bathroom and Rick has his own - the secret to a good marriage! So we left her in there and do you know she slept for about 4.5 hours?! In fact, she slept right through a feeding. Meanwhile, we got some good sleep in! Yea! I was actually able to dream last night! That's huge! After I fed her, I put her back into the crib and she fell asleep again for another 2.5 hours. This morning I was so energized. I made coffee and lots of waffles (I froze some to eat during the week). Then I did 2 loads of laundry and housework! I just sent Rick to the store so I can cook a real dinner - stuffed bell peppers, mashed potatoes, and black beans. Im doubling that recipe too for food during the week.
Fingers crossed that we can repeat the routine tonight..
